Electricity
In Maine’s deregulated electricity market, customers pay their utilities for the transmission and delivery of electricity and can choose either the standard offer or a competitive offer for the supply of their power itself.
Through a competitive bid process held every 3 years, MPO negotiates an exclusive contract to offer competitive rates to all MPO members, based on their collective energy usage.
Constellation New Energy is the company that currently supplies electricity for our members under this agreement.
MPO does not charge a markup on rates to its members, as a broker would, when requesting a rate quote on their behalf, so our members are guaranteed the lowest rate that Constellation can offer on any given day.
